Our client approached us to create a unique hard enamel pin featuring a chibi-style character peacefully resting on a duck. The design required high precision in both enamel coloring and printing techniques to capture the delicate details of the character’s outfit, expressions, and background elements. Given the intricate nature of the design, we had to ensure that the enamel application, printing accuracy, and gold-plated finishing met the highest standards.

Pin Design Details

1. Design & Colors: The client provided designs and some details. We arranged artwork and chose pantone color codes to maintain consistency across the entire pin series. After this client aproved this artwork of this hard enamel pin, we arranged production.
2. Material & Plating: The hard enamel pins had to be made using hard enamel with gold plating to create a premium look.
3. Size & Thickness: The final hard enamel pin size was specified as 1.25 inches with a 1.5mm thickness for durability.
4. Attachments & Packaging: Each pin needed two rubber clutches for secure fastening and was individually packaged in PVC bags for protection.
5. Backstamp & Series Consistency: The back of this hard enamel pin featured a custom backstamp to maintain branding. Some colors must remain consistent across all pins in the same series to ensure a cohesive collection.

Some Processes

1. Digital Proofing & Color Matching

Before mass production, we provided the client with an enamel + print sample for approval. This ensured that the colors matched the original design accurately, and the fine printing details were clearly visible.

2. Mold & Hard Enamel Filling

• The mold was created. Each section was correctly separated for enamel filling.
• The selected Pantone colors were filled manually into the recessed areas, and the enamel was baked at high temperatures for a durable finish.

3. Wet Grinding & Polishing

• Wet grinding can make the metal lines on pins visible.
• The surface was polished to create a smooth and glossy texture, ensuring a high-quality appearance.

4. Plating

These hard enamel pins were gold-plated to provide a premium and elegant finish.

5. Silkscreen Printing for Fine Details

Certain details, such as the character’s facial expression, tiny star elements, and outfit patterns, were too intricate for enamel filling. Instead, we used silkscreen printing to add these precise details. The printing colors included black, dark blue, and lighter pastel shades to enhance the visual appeal.

6. Assembly

• Each pin was equipped with two rubber clutches.

Quality Control & Client Interaction

Throughout the production process, we maintained open communication with the client. After the initial sample was created, the client reviewed the color accuracy, printing sharpness, and plating quality. We conducted strict quality checks to ensure that:
