Overview
This custom enamel pin project features two visually striking link click pins showcasing two male characters holding a vintage camera. The link click pins come in two distinct color variants: one with a cool-toned blue-green background and the other with a bold red backdrop. This project required precision, expert craftsmanship, and high-quality materials to achieve the desired aesthetic.
With a hard enamel finish and gold plating, these link click pins exude a premium look while ensuring durability. The inclusion of translucent and gradient enamel effects added depth, making this project particularly complex but rewarding. Of course, there are some great effects, such as pearl enamel, stained glass enamel, UV Print and so on. Our goal was to perfectly translate the client’s digital artwork into a polished enamel pin while maintaining intricate details and vibrant colors.

Design & Artwork Preparation
The original design provided by the client contained fine lines, shading, and color gradients, which required careful adaptation for the enamel pin manufacturing process. To ensure the artwork translated seamlessly onto metal and enamel, we focused on:
- Metal Line Adjustments: Simplifying small details while retaining the essence of the design.
- Enamel Color Selection: Ensuring accuracy and vibrancy by choosing Pantone-matched colors.
- Size Optimization: At 88mm x 68mm, the pin was designed large enough to preserve intricate details.
- Effects: Translucent enamel, pearl, gradient pearl, stained glass enamel and UV print
Production Workflow
1. Mold Creation & Metal Stamping
Once the design was finalized, we created custom mold for two variants. The molds were used to stamp the design onto a gold-plated metal base, ensuring strong and well-defined metal outlines.
A custom backstamp with the client’s logo was engraved, ensuring authenticity and a professional touch.
2. Enamel Filling & Specialty Effects
- Hard enamel colors were filled one by one
- Translucent enamel was carefully added in designated areas
- Gradient pearl enamels were blended seamlessly, enhancing the depth and color transitions.
3. Wet Grinding
This process can make metal lines on the pin visible.
4. Polishing
The pin surface was polished multiple times to achieve a smooth, glass-like finish.
5. Plating
These link click pins were plated with gold.
6. Print
These link click pins were sent for screen print. Some pins also require UV printing.
7. Quality Inspection & Packaging
- Each pin underwent strict quality control, including color matching, metal inspection, and smooth enamel surface checks.
- Link click pins were individually packaged in pvc bags and bubble bags to prevent scratches during transit.
Final Product & Client Feedback
The final product was a stunning set of two enamel pins, each with its own unique appeal:
- The blue-green variant had a more cinematic, cool-toned aesthetic, making it feel atmospheric and nostalgic.
- The red variant exuded a dramatic, bold energy, perfect for collectors who preferred a striking look.
