Numbering FAQ

Plan serial formats, engraving placement and sequence checks for your custom numbered pins.

How does laser numbering differ from a molded backstamp?

Laser numbering is added after the pin is made, so each piece can carry a different number. A molded backstamp is part of the base tooling and repeats on every piece.

Can I use letters, leading zeros or nonconsecutive numbers?

Yes. We support letters, prefixes, suffixes, leading zeros, separators, skipped numbers and custom lists. Confirm the exact format and sequence before production.

What numbering data should I send?

Send the start and end numbers or an exact list, plus quantity, order and formatting rules. Excel or CSV lists are accepted; include every prefix, separator and leading zero.

Where can numbers be engraved, and on which surfaces?

Front, back or edge placement can be reviewed across different materials and finishes. Mark the intended area so we can confirm access, clear space and the effect on decoration.

Will the numbers be black, and how small can they be?

Mark color and contrast depend on the material and finish; black is not guaranteed. Character size and spacing are reviewed at the finished size so the numbers remain readable.

Can a reorder continue my previous numbering sequence?

Yes, once the prior order and last number are verified. Send the previous order details and requested next range or list so the continuation can be checked before engraving.

How are missing, duplicate or incorrect numbers checked?

We manually sort and screen the numbered pieces against the approved data, checking the sequence, placement and readability. Specify any required packing order in advance.
