Pins FAQ
Explore pearl materials, color choices and surface finishes before planning your custom enamel pin.
What is Pearl Enamel made from?
We use mica pigments mixed into the color or applied to its surface, combined with epoxy resin. This creates a pearlescent finish rather than a natural shell inlay.
How does Pearl Enamel differ from glitter and opal?
Pearl Enamel gives a soft, continuous sheen. Glitter produces distinct points of sparkle, while the Opal Effect shows broader, irregular flashes of reflected color.
Which enamel types support pearl, and is it smooth?
Pearl can be used with hard, soft and 3D enamel. Smooth hard-enamel and recessed soft-enamel finishes are both possible; the surface depends on the selected construction.
Can Pearl Enamel match my Pantone color?
Pantone codes are references only; choose the final color from physical pearl pigment samples. Lighting and viewing angle change the visible shade and sheen.
Can Pearl Enamel be used in small details?
Pearl needs enough visible area for its sheen to show clearly. We review narrow lines and small lettering at the finished pin size and may suggest larger areas or solid enamel.
Can pearl be combined with other enamel effects?
Pearl can be combined with solid enamel, glitter, Opal Effect, Cat Eye Effect and Translucent Enamel. Mark the intended areas so we can plan the combination for your design.
Is Pearl Enamel the same as Pearl Swirl?
An even pearl sheen and a visible swirl or marbled pattern are different finishes. Send a reference for swirl or gradient designs so we can confirm the achievable effect.
Will the finished pearl effect match the digital proof?
The proof maps colors and pearl areas but cannot reproduce the moving sheen. Light, viewing angle and minor variations between pieces can change the finished appearance.
