Why Choose Translucent Enamel?

Translucent enamel adds a semi-transparent color effect to custom enamel pins, allowing light and underlying metal textures to show through. This creates a rich sense of depth and a glossy, glass-like appearance that makes the design feel more refined, vibrant, and visually distinctive.

  • Semi-Transparent Color Effect

Creates a beautiful see-through color finish that adds lightness and visual interest.

  • Enhanced Depth & Texture

Allows underlying metal textures or patterns to remain visible for a richer layered effect.

  • Glass-Like Appearance

Gives selected areas a smooth, polished look with a refined translucent finish.

  • Creative Design Possibilities

Perfect for water, sky, flames, gemstones, drinks, stained-glass-inspired elements, and other artistic details.

  • Works with Multiple Finishes

Combine translucent enamel with metal textures, glitter, printing, or other specialty effects for added visual impact.

  • Perfect for Collectibles

Ideal for artistic pins, nature themes, fantasy designs, commemorative pins, limited editions, and special releases.

Translucent Enamel
Pins FAQ

Explore how metal finishes, base textures and color choices shape the look of translucent enamel pins.

How does translucent enamel differ from the Stained Glass Effect?

Translucent enamel reveals reflections and detail on a solid metal base. The Stained Glass Effect fills selected openings so light can pass through the pin.

Can translucent enamel be used with hard or soft enamel?

Both constructions can use tinted transparent resin over the metal base. The translucent fill itself does not need separate tooling.

Can translucent and opaque colors appear on the same pin?

Yes, this is a standard combination. All 24 displayed translucent colors are available; keep translucent and opaque areas separate in the artwork.

Does translucent enamel need a textured metal base?

No, the base can be polished, sandblasted or engraved. Each surface reflects light differently, so texture is an optional design choice rather than a requirement.

How does the metal finish affect translucent colors?

The metal beneath changes how the translucent color looks. Dark finishes such as black nickel or black-painted metal can darken or shift the intended shade.

Will translucent enamel match my Pantone color or digital proof?

Pantone and digital proofs guide the design, but cannot guarantee the finished shade. Metal, resin depth and lighting affect the result; we normally test colors first.

Can tiny details use translucent enamel?

Small filled areas can look darker and make the underlying detail harder to see. Broader areas show the effect better; tiny shapes may need enlarging or simplifying.
