Pins FAQ
Explore movement paths, moving-piece sizes and assembly requirements for your custom slider pin.
Can the slider follow a curved or wavy path?
Yes. Straight, vertical, curved and wavy paths are possible, but sharp, angular turns are not. Mark the intended direction and start and stop positions in your artwork.
Can one pin have multiple tracks or moving pieces?
Our supported layouts use one or two tracks and one or two moving pieces. Their paths and spacing must allow each piece to travel without colliding with the others.
How small can the moving piece and travel distance be?
Moving pieces need to be larger than 8 mm, with final dimensions reviewed for the design. Travel length depends on the path, base shape and available clearance.
How is the moving piece kept attached while it slides?
A riveted connection retains the moving piece as it follows the slot in the fixed base. The travel limits and clearance are planned together for the approved movement.
Can a slider mechanism be combined with decorative finishes?
Enamel, printing or plating needs review around the alloy sliding contact areas. The chosen decoration and clearances must allow the moving piece to travel freely.
Does a slider pin need extra tooling and assembly?
Yes. Extra tooling is needed for the back and moving piece, followed by riveted assembly. The layout and number of components affect the production quote.
How do you check that the slider moves smoothly?
Finished sliders are operated to check for sticking and smooth travel. Path clearance, contact areas and the riveted connection are reviewed as part of assembly.
